Ellen is a director on the Corporate Nature board representing Northern Gulf Resource Management Group where she has held the office of Conservation Director since 2014. She is also the secretary of Cairns and Far North Environment Centre (CAFNEC) an organization Ellen joined in 1997. With a science degree from James Cook University in Townsville, Ellen graduated with a first class Honours in Botany. Relocating to JCU Cairns campus in 1996, she helped establish the School of Tropical Biology. During this time Ellen undertook a higher research degree studying rainforest plants in the Daintree lowlands. She is currently employed at the Wet Tropics Management Authority, working on vegetation mapping, threatened species, climate change, heritage conservation issues and building research partnerships with other organisations.
